Since day one, Ruben Amorim has changed so many things at Manchester United, in a positive way, from press conferences to in game decisions making , here are just a few examples of how Ruben Amorim is changing Manchester United.
The players at Manchester United need to adapt, not the manager!
Since day one, Ruben Amorim has had his idea of playing the system of 3-4-3 and he didn’t want to change it no matter what would happen. Some fans and ex-players called him on social media to change the system and adapt to the players that he has on the squad but no matter what would happen he stick to his gameplan.
This is one of the reasons why fans respect him even more, as he has a long term vision for Manchester United in his head and not a short time fix, it is clear that the board of Manchester United backs him as he is ready to sell anyone that doesn’t fit the system and don’t want to play on his system.
Players like Rashford, Casemiro, Shaw and even Garnacho who where untouchable under former manager Eric Ten Hag, are now are being considered out of the project for long term of this football club, who would have thought that Rashford will be on the transfer list just months after his appointment?
It is clear that the board backs him on this direction and more players will be exposed and dropped with time as he will start to create his perfect squad for his system of playing.
Improving individual players, then using them in the right way and right position.
Do you remember the time when Ten Hag used Mazraoui as a 10 while a certain player called Amad was on the bench? This kind of experimentation has ended the moment Ruben Amorim stepped on Old Trafford. Players are being used on the right way on the right position on the pitch and he is getting the best out of them.
Amad is a great example of a player with so much potential and talent that was miss-used under Ten Hag and other managers, he never had a run of games and the moment he got that under Amorim we all saw what he is capable offensively and defensively.
Maguire is also a good example of using the right system for him, he has made a name for himself playing on a back three for England at World Cup, and we all can see how much he improved and settled on this new system.
Ugarte is a player that was considered a bust in the beginning under Ten Hag, but knowing his attributes and his best qualities now he is one of the best players we have on our team. Mainoo and Zirkzee have also improved with Zirkzee being from total bust under Ten Hag a player that we can trust on certain games and situations.
Bruno is not the same Bruno as it was under Ten Hag and others especially in the last couple of games, he looks more calm and not rushing to get the ball to others and try to force and create something, he looks like a reborn player.
No preferential treatment, work hard in training or you don’t play
Most of the players in the Manchester United squad before the day Amorim was introduced where untouchable and they played on the next game no matter what they did in training or on their free time.
What Amorim said in one interview when he was asked about why Marcus Rashford & Alejandro Garnacho where out of the team for the game against City makes you understand that he watches everything about his players from training to the way they behave with the media or when they are on their free time with their family.
It is clear that Amorim wants a professional behaviour from his players all year round and is ready to drop anyone who brakes his rules no matter the name, we learned this with Rashford and Garnacho on the game against City.
Also some players have learned this the hard way like Rashford who has a big ego and don’t want to lower his head and work under his system and by his rules, and now he is on the transfer list and out of the project, while some others like Garnacho & Zirkzee who did some mistakes on gameday or outside have improved and listened to him and now are doing better.
It is clear that no matter who you are you are not going to play under Amorim if you don’t deserve to play and this we fans have been saying and wanting since forever.
In game decision making and use of substitutes
United fans are unable to remember a manager that was able to adjust or do in-game adjustments tactically depending on the situation of the game while Amorim does this every game.
Ten Hag, Mourinho, Ole and others past Ferguson has always had a plan before the game and if that plan didn’t work they never had a second plan under their sleeve to try and win that game, under Amorim we saw almost every game how the team has changed from one half to other for better even when we where losing.
There where games where we where awful on the first half and then we where much better on the second because Amorim made some in game tactical changes that made us better.
Ruben Amorim is a genius on this part especially on big games where he brings the right players on the right moments who have changed the game for good for our team like the game against City, Liverpool or even Arsenal today.
